Let’s Save the Douc

The red-shanked douc (Pygathrix nemaeus) is considered by many to be the most beautiful monkey in the world. One of its largest populations is found in central Vietnam at a place called Son Tra (aka Monkey Mountain). The doucs of Son Tra, numbering fewer than 1,000, are losing ground because developers are destroying forest habitat and converting it into luxury resorts and mansions. Working with our local conservation partner GreenViet, LVDI International is running a “Save the Douc” campaign to safeguard the doucs of Son Tra. Your tax-deductible donation enables schoolchildren to participate in an education program that includes an experiential learning opportunity to see the doucs in Son Tra and become the doucs’ lifelong champions! As successful advocacy is based on sheer numbers our goal is to garner at least 5,000 new champions who when joined together with our conservation team will become the unwavering, resounding voice needed to save the doucs and their home in Son Tra. We can’t do it without your help! Please join us and pledge your support today!
