In cooperation with GreenViet and the People’s Committee of Da Nang City, LVDI International conducted a three-day event at Nguyen Nhu Hanh Primary School to celebrate World Environment Day 2020. This event is part of our Little Green Guards® conservation education program that increases awareness and fosters stewardship of nature in children. Over 500 students participated in the informal learning activities that included a photographic exhibition as well as drawings, interpretive talks and Q&A sessions. This year’s theme focused on protecting Son Tra Mountain and its biodiversity. Despite the fact that Son Tra is only about 10 miles from the school, most of the children have never seen or even heard of the wildlife species that occur there. They enjoyed discovering the remarkable assemblage of local plants and animals, especially the monkey known as the “Queen of Primates” – the red-shanked douc. By becoming our newest Little Green Guards®, the children pledged to do their part to protect Son Tra’s biodiversity and help minimize their impact on the environment. We thank our partners and volunteers for creating this memorable learning experience that surly will yield a lifetime of results in these children.
