Education is key to breaking the cycle of extreme poverty and ensuring a sustainable future for Madagascar. Due to disadvantages common in rural settings, frontline communities neighboring protected areas tend to have an underdeveloped education system. As a result, children from those communities often lag behind in their core competencies compared to their urban counterparts. Since 2013, LVDI International has improved the quality of education at Anevoka Primary School, located near Maromizaha Protected Area in eastern Madagascar. Through our flagship Little Green Guards^® program, we delivered blended lessons of basic subjects with conservation biology that enhance the children’s academic abilities while simultaneously nurturing their understanding of and appreciation for the natural world.
