LVDI International’s Little Green Guards® program empowers children who wish to contribute to biodiversity conservation. We offer guidance and mentoring to help young people propel their passion into action.
Early this year we began sponsoring the Forever An Animal Lover Club (FALC) founded by Nguyệt Linh Nguyễn, a student at Marie Curie School in Hanoi, Vietnam. Nguyệt Linh had expressed a strong desire to involve her peers in caring for animals. After helping her to define her aspirations, we were keen to make Nguyệt Linh’s dream of establishing a conservation club become a reality.
Serving as Nguyệt Linh’s mentor is our Vietnam Country Director, Ms. Thi Trang Le, who supports the growth and development of Nguyệt Linh as well as other club members in their wildlife conservation endeavors. Specifically, Ms. Le and our cadre of educators have been offering free webinars based on our Save the Magnificent Seven curricula, which include lessons about the saola (Pseudoryx nghetinhensis), Sunda pangolin (Manis javanica), Indochinese tiger (Panthera tigris ssp. corbetti), Annamite striped rabbit (Nesolagus timminsi), northern yellow-cheeked crested gibbon (Nomascus annamensis), red-shanked douc (Pygathrix nemaeus), and crested argus (Rheinardia ocellate) – seven species that are threatened by extinction.
“As the mission of LVDI International is to inspire and empower people to protect nature, we are thrilled to transfer knowledge to a new generation so that they can develop ideas and inspire actions at their school and in their communities to help protect Vietnam’s wildlife treasures,” said Ms. Le.
Recently, Nguyệt Linh became the youngest person to receive the Vietnam Environment Award, given by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. She is proof that with passion and commitment anyone can take actions to improve the future of our planet.
Kudos, Nguyệt Linh!
