Saving Biodiversity through Education

Madagascar, with its exceptional animal and plant diversity, is a focal point for LVDI International’s conservation efforts. Through our Little Green Guards® program we foster children’s love for wildlife while improving their reading skills. We firmly believe that increased literacy helps children succeed in school and in life, leading to a brighter future for our conservation stewards. Building on years of educational experience, we are expanding our Little Green Guards® program in Madagascar by constructing a school library. This new library is located at the Anevoka Primary School, peripheral to Maromizaha Protected Area where 13 lemur species in addition to a multitude of wildlife occur.

We recently received updates from Mr. Zo of GERP about the status of the library and are excited to report that the construction is well underway. The roof and supporting posts are in place, and as soon as the weather improves the rest of the structure will be completed. We cannot wait to fill this library with books so that the local children can begin to discover the joy of reading!
